Ibn Sina was born in modern day Uzbekistan in 980. his other name was Avicenna. He was very smart as a child. By the age of seven he memorized Quran. Ibn Sina studied in medicine and was very successful being a doctor and was known for curing a lot of people. At age 18, he healed the prince. For his reward he became the prince’s personal doctor. Since he was prince Emirs personal doctor it gave him access to lots of rare books. In 999 the Ghaznavids conquered the samanids and the did not support the practice of medicine. So Ibn Sina left to find a place that would support him and his practices of medicine. At age 20 he found how to calculate momentum using velocity multiplied by the weight of the object.
Also, he wrote several books such as The Canon of medicine, The Book of Healing, and a book called Remarks and Admonitions. His most famous of all was the canon of medicine which explains all the understandings of medicine in there time and is still known to be one of the most famous books. Ibn Sina writing books help to preserve information about diseases that are still in use today. For example:
"Infections are caused by the contamination of body secretions of understandings of medicine at the time. It was completed in 1025. Today it host organisms by foreign tainted microorganisms. (Ibn Sina)."
This shows Ibn Sina’s far reaching wisdom about the way people get sick.
