It was once said that Persia was the height of civilization. Why was that? Was it agriculture, trading or was it something much more? technology and different sciences was one of the big things in the islamic empires.
During the Muslim golden age, scientist and mathematicians made great advances in the field of astronomy. They started to use Islamic teachings to improve lives. Astronomy was mostly used for navigation, geography, medical knowledge, measuring and calculating. It came in handy when routing trades. They used the sun and the moon to determine prayer times and an accurate calendar. The astrolabe- an instrument used to make astronomical measurements and calculate altitudes- was also developed.
