Joan of Arc real name is Jeanne d’Arc she was born around 1412 in France. Joan is a 17 year old peasant woman. When Joan was young she went to the court of Charles VII, the crowned king of France. After the court she told them that god sent her to save France. She has been having visions about France.She believe that Saint Margaret, Catherine, and Michael gave her those visions. Now anybody that has visions like that has to be a little crazy in the head .They chose her to lead the army against the English.
The France has been trying to drive the English out of France since 1337. Joan turns the tables by English always beating France.Joan led the France to several victories. Joan inspired the battered and despairing French troops to fight a new battle. It all started with the visions she had from Saint Margaret, Catherine, and Michael and they told Joan that she needed to support King Charles VII and help rid France of the English. After passing several tests to prove her sincerity, Joan then had permission to fight. Joan then thinks about going to other towns so she could free France from the English. Then France starts to respect her for the accomplishments she is doing for them. The English declared her as heretic which means a person who is practicing religious. Joan was tried as a heretic before a church court. The church then saw her as a threat.
Joan then get captured from the English just to remind you that she was 17 at the moment. English then make a trade for her and for money. They actually didn’t trade her they just put her in prison until she had a trail. A year went past before she had her trail. Once they started her trial they tried to question her about France but Joan remained silent. There were several charges on Joan but the main charge was on her religious beliefs.
May in 1431 Joan was turned over to secular officials and burned at the stake.Joan fought for her country and had the courage to do what she did. Joan of arc is remembered as someone who stood up and was brave and the courage to lead people to freedom .She was also known for leading the French to victories over the English in the hundreds years. Twenty- four years later the French parliament established an annual festival in her name, to be held on the second Sunday in May. Joan of Arc continues to be honored as a french national heroine.
