The Aztecs was a nomadic tribe that originated in northern Mexico and arrived in Mesoamerica around the 13th century. It later became the most powerful kingdom of Mesoamerica ever. This empire stretched from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf coast and about 15 million people being in 38 provinces and existing in 489 groups. The Aztec Empire lasted for about ninety-four years.
The Aztec society was divided into 3 social classes: the upper class, the middle class, and the lower class. The highest class was the noble class, the emperor was most important in this class. The emperor’s job was to pray to the gods, and if he did not do well then a new emperor would be chosen out of the royal family by an assembly of noble members. The next class were the commoners; They contained merchants, artisans, low ranking priests, and farmers. The merchants were considered the richest commoners. The commoners normally grew food for the nobles. Barely below the commoners were the serfs, the serfs were not rich but they did work for the nobles, but they were not slaves. Below the serfs were the slaves, Slaves were the lowest class of all the social classes. They took care of the acts for the nobles.
Aztec art was very well appreciated in the Aztec culture. Most art was made based on religion, like mask were made to represent gods and were used in several ceremonies. The Aztecs also loved their Aztec music, but it was not done for entertainment it was simply done to satisfy the gods. Aztec tattoos also were also very important to the Aztec. They would draw symbols on their stomach, and wrist of their child which showed their devotion to a god. Every tattoo had some relation to their god and was worn at rituals. The Aztec culture was mainly to show dedication to a certain god or belief.
