The history of the roman empire was treacherous and slowly falling as the years went on,because of the ignorance of their leaders. The roman empire had many dark days and those dark days eventually lead to the ultimate fall of it’s once great magnificent empire. The roman empire first started out in mythical terms. Archaeologist believed that the three founding legends existed. Those legendary men were named Romulus, Remus and Aeneas. The way these people fell (just like the roman empire) is that they let their ignorance get in the way of how an empire should be ran.Romulus ended up killing Remus and Aeneas became the leader but he eventually died of natural causes. Because of the roman empire knowing of this history, they decided to split their government into 2 parts. There are 4 reasons why this happened.
One reason is the lost of war which was not a shocker. The invasions by the barharian tribes were the final straw. The second reason is because of the rise of the eastern empire. They outmatched the roman empire in pretty much every way possible. The total number of kings that ruled the roman empire are 7,but during the dark period, people started taking over the entire empire but they had no idea how to rule it. So the epic wars they had; they lost every single one of them. One of the greatest battles the fallen empire ever had was against carthage. He is responsible for the many territories to the roman empire. After that was Claudius who was most famous for conquering britain. After Claudius died of natural causes, then came Nero who proved to be mentally insane. He is the one who murdered his mother and wife and threw thousands of christians to the lions. After he died, then came Titus who destroyed the great jewish temple of solomon. So over the years, the roman empire started to get more disliked and more hated as each century passed, because of the destruction they were causing to the other cities.Especially the christians. After the death of Marcus Aurelius , for the next 100 years the roman empire began to divide.
