Almost 25 hundred years ago, one of the most influential writers in history was born in Halicarnassus, Caria, which is modern-day Bodrum, Turkey. His name was Herodotus and he was a Greek historian who lived through 484-425 BC. He is often considered the father of history because of the way he would gather his information, collecting his materials critically and carefully, and make them into a historic narrative.
He wrote a book called Histories, which serves as a record of the ancient traditions, politics, geography, and conflicts of various cultures that were known in Western Asia, Northern Africa and Greece at that time. One of his many famous works within Histories was called Xerxes Invades Greece; In which he writes about the invasion of the Greek mainland by the Persian king named Xerxes in the year 480 B.C.
There was another man named Cicero, was a Roman philosophy, politician lawyer, and orator. He has been traditionally considered the master of Latin prose. Cicero also made an early conceptualization of rights, based on ancient law and custom.
He was arguably one of the most historically important romans in history.
