BLACK DEATH
Many people during the Dark Ages were killed by the awful disease called the Black Death. People affected weren’t just older men and women, or even teenagers, but children. Many kids were killed at very young ages due to this awful disease. Families and friends were brutally affected by the Black Death because their sons, daughters, grandkids, even nephews and nieces were killed. The Black Death was a gruesome disease that was even hard for adults to handle the pain and things it did to your body. These Innocent children had to bare the look of the disease, and also the tremendous amount of pain it caused. Many children, who have taken account of this terrible plague, only remember the worst of it. They remember the painful images, smells, and cries of many people suffering from this awful event that affected millions upon millions of people in the middle ages. All in all the Black Death affected millions of children and even their families.

The flagellants were religious men who would travel around and whip themselves in order to “achieve redemption.” These men were almost famous, because women thought they were the most attractive men, and were awed by them, and what they did. They would whip themselves until they were dripping blood all over their whole body. This act was to punish themselves from the many sins they committed. The Flagellants were most popular while the world was in a time of crisis. They reached their height of popularity when the “black Death” affected millions. These men would drag around crosses, beating themselves, while wearing white robes. The unnecessary act was watched and loved by many people during the middle ages.

During the crisis of the Black Death many people would blame each other for the out break of this awful plague. The people who were blamed for this plague were the Jews. This accusation is terrible, considering this disease did not come from any human; in fact it came from an animal. People would find pleasure in blaming the Jews. In fact the Christians were the ones blaming the Jews for not following their own beliefs and ways of life. The blaming of the Jews for the outbreak of this plague and for mistreating them for not doing the exact same things as the Christians is ridiculous and unnecessary. These people would find pleasure in blaming innocent people for something nobody could control.

During the Black Death, many people did not know what they were coming into. They can be affected by this disease if they come too close or come in contact with a person already affected by this plague. The doctors during the middle ages would wear suits, almost like hazmat suits. They did not want to smell the awful stench of rotting flesh, or the smell of anybody sick from this plague. They were protecting themselves from getting the disease themselves, so they would wear these suits in order to do that. The mask is to help the smell, and also could protect them from the disease getting into their mouth or nose. The long cloak would protect their arms, legs, and the rest of their body from any bodily fluids from touching their bodies. These people had to protect themselves before they could help others heal from this outbreak of the Black Death.
